Intel® recently launched their vPRO processors which allow IT technicians or authorized proffesionals to gain access to the PC’s even when they are turned off. When the user returns to the computer they will get an alert about the updates and fixes being installed in the computer without presence.

The vPRO Technology is bundled with Intel® Core 2 Duo Processors which offer 40% higher performance than any other PC. This reduces the load of the security applications running in the background.

This system works with the help of the active networking chip in the PC which will be kept virtually active at all times. Once the IT manager or the support technician reaches the chip it can contact the chipset inside the machine which will let the authorized personnel to fix or update the system.

Chipsets are responsible for sending data from the microprocessor to the rest of the computer, and is where the core of Intel’s new technology lies.[via]
