Google has announced that they will be providing their FeedBurner stats PRO & the MyBrand for Free. As the Google always had a goal to make the world wide web totally free for the general public, they feel that this step will surely add something to complete it.
Using the Pro stats:
The Pro stats feature can be easily activated. All you have to do is to insert a piece of javascript in your template. After a short time, you will be able to use this feature.
Using MyBrand Feature:
Here, the main problem arises. A normal user cannot do this job. You need to be comfortable with your site’s DNS settings and also you must have the rights to edit you C-Name settings which blogspot users don’t enjoy. For this you need to buy a custom domain for your blog.
Will my subscribers have to Re-Subscribe with the new URL?
If you are using FeedBurner from a long time, you must have certainly build up a long list of your subscribers. So the next question arises in your mind is “Will they have to re-subscribe?”
The answer is certainly NO. Your feed will be accessible through both feed address i.e.
1. http://feeds.feedburner.com/XXXXXX &
2. www.mysite.com/feed (or whatever you like!)
How should i activate the MyBrand Feature?
To get started:
1- Sign in to your FeedBurner account
2- Click My Account
3- Click MyBrand, enter your domains and activate.
Here is what Google’s FeedBurner blog yelled out:
One of the many benefits that FeedBurner publishers will enjoy now that FeedBurner is part of the Google family is a little something we like to call, “more for free!” Beginning today, two of FeedBurner’s previously for-pay services, TotalStats and MyBrand, will be free. Not in the sense of soaring high above the clouds or recently sprung from the hoosegow, but free like you’ll no longer gladly be billed on Tuesday for a burned feed today. We suspect this will be welcome news to the 450,000+ of you using many of our other free services, but understanding that your feed is your feed, you will need to activate these newly freed-up services in order to partake in their awesomeness.
