TechSmith Launches JING

Posted on July 17th, 2007 in software by Ankit Duseja

TechSmith group today launched a new product named as Jing. A screen casting cum screen capture software that is also free. This is the first free full version from Techsmith group. It is compatible with both Mac and Windows Xp & Vista.

I faced some problem while running the Jing for first time on windows Vista. I used first this configuration for testing Jing.

  • 2.0 Ghz Dual Core AMD Processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 160 GB Hard disk
  • nVIDIA 128MB shared memory graphics card.
  • Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium Edition.

While installing first time i faced a problem and was not able to run Jing. Every time I start Jing a message was shown “Jing has stopped working”.

Finally then i re-installed it and it was on. This time it worked properly. I think an installation problem occurred during the first time.

Being a free software it had some great capabilities. Recording and capturing using jing software is really easy.a yellow bubble sits around the edges of your desktop. All you have to do is to just hover the mouse over the bubble and select what you want to do from the options shown there.
Jing stores the images in PNG format & the movies in SWF format.

You may save video to your hard disk or upload it to some popular video sharing sites.
