Bye Yahoo Photos - Hello Flickr!

Posted on August 22nd, 2007 in internet, news by Ankit Duseja

Both Yahoo Photos and Flickr are popular photo sharing sites owned by Yahoo. Both the sites have totally different interface, with some different features. The Flickr was developed by Ludicorp. The Flickr continuously gained traffic because of the cheap price and better quality and thus Yahoo took over it.

But managing two sites which do the same work and competing between them really makes no sense. So Yahoo made good decision of closing Yahoo Photos (less popular) than Flickr.

Currently if you visit Yahoo Photos, the page yells out:

We’re sorry. Yahoo! Photos is closing on September 20, 2007 so we are no longer accepting new accounts or allowing users to upload photos if you don’t already have photos in your account. We’ve decided to focus all our efforts on Flickr - the award winning photo sharing community that Time Magazine has even called “completely addictive”. Why not head over to Flickr for a look?
