The browser war has been growing very rapidly in this past month. Opera’s 9.5 has been really tough for Mozilla’s Firefox 3. Though many users installed Firefox 3 but they are also happy with the new Opera 9.5. If you work on many systems in your college, school or work then you must be using different computers daily. Having a portable browser in your pen drive can lower the risk of security breaches caused by using different browser at different systems.

The normal version found at their respective sites cannot be installed on your pen drives. However some third parties have released a portable version of these browsers which can be installed on a USB pen-drive.

You can download portable versions of the following browsers at their respective links below:

Such as opening the same websites daily by completely typing their domain name again and again may irritate you. Here is a short firefox trick which can open your daily visited websites with just two clicks.

This feature comes inbuilt in Firefox but has not gained popularity yet. Many people still don’t know about this and that is why we have written this post. Additionally starting the YDT podcast today as promised by us a month back, there is a video below do check it out.

How to quickly open multiple tabs?
Just follow the simple steps below or watch the video at the bottom of this post:

Create a new folder in Bookmarks Toolbar in Firefox.

Create bookmarks of the sites you want to use on daily basis.

Now just click on that folder & then click on “Open all in Tabs”.

That’s it, now see the magic!

Keeping our promise, here is the first podcast ever from Yogtec’s Digital Technology. The first one is quite small but still it is quite useful. It has no sound just a plain trick to speed up your daily work.

But when it comes to feature like blog-this in it people hesitate to switch to Live Writer. Making it simple here is a Firefox plugin that functions just as other Blog-This bookmark button functions. The difference is that, it quickly launches windows live writer with the highlighted link or text in the post.

Download the plugin from below link. After download is complete simply run that file, when installation is complete you may not see the button by default in Firefox. To make it appear follow these steps:

Open Firefox.

Then goto View>Toolbars>Customize.

From the “Customize Toolbars” window, drag Blog-This icon out to a menu bar at the top of the FF browser window.

Click “Done”.

While installing these programs does the apple installer yells out “The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2738.”?

This error is caused due to Windows Installer is not able process the Visual Basic script embedded inside apple installation package. Apple blame Microsoft for this error. Following the below procedure activated the VB script. Following are the procedure to solve this problem in some popular versions of Windows.

Windows XP

You may resolve this issue by installing the latest VBScript engine from Microsoft.

If the VBScript is installed, it might not be registered within Windows XP. To re-enable the VBScript engine, follow these steps:

On the Start menu, click Run.

In the “Open” field, enter the following command and click OK.
regsvr32 vbscript.dll

A message should appear stating that the “DllRegisterServer in C:\WINDOWS\system32\vbscript.dll succeeded.”

Click OK and try installing iTunes or QuickTime again.

Note that the user needs to be logged in as the administrator or is a user with admin privileges for the step above.

Windows Vista

On the Start menu, click All Programs.

Click Accessories.

Right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator from the shortcut menu.

When the User Account Control dialog appears, click Continue.

At the command prompt type the following:
regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Press Enter on your keyboard.

A message should appear stating “DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll succeeded.”

Click OK and try installing iTunes or QuickTime again.

The above tutorial was taken from Apple Inc. support center.

There are many Anti-Firefox people growing up on the internet. Mostly they are those who hate a Firefox plugin that blocks Ads on websites. This finally decreases the revenue from their sites.

So some crazy guys have developed a anti-firefox spyware which completely blocks the access to Firefox on the infected system. These guys just want to oppose that ad-block plugin & for that they have created a trouble for some decent users. It even blocks the ways to reinstall or uninstall the Firefox & my dad’s system had been luckily got infected by it.

My Struggle
I started the struggle to remove it. I thought that it may be simple (but it was not). Opening the Firefox was impossible now to open Firefox. So I tried to start firebox in safe mode. But again it failed now i realized firefox.exe is completely corrupted. So i thought of uninstalling it but that too was not possible.

It even blocks the access to Mozilla Firefox installation folder. Even exploring that folder didn’t worked. So I finally manged to delete it without opening that folder (Simple, but it took me a long tie to find the method to get it out).

After it I tried to re-install Firefox, so I opened Internet Explorer & went to Mozilla website & tried to download Firefox. But it also blocked the download (Can you believe it?). Finally I installed Ad-Aware Free Version, but it also failed to remove it.

This is the limit of spy-ware creation & its now seems like it is impossible to get Firefox back on that system. I’m still searching for a solution, if anyone knows about it please drop a comment to this post. I will inform you if I find any solution, so keep reading here.

In the past month I have seen many people coming up to me asking to solve Internet Explorer (IE) loading problem. Even I too was facing a problem of hang-up’s while start IE in normal mode.

The problem behind this is the addon’s. IE7 is having some problems with addon’s. Actually its those add-on’s which slow down the computer not the IE. If we run IE without any add-on’s and without the ActiveX control, IE loads much faster.

Here are some measures to speed up your Internet Explorer:
1. Run Internet Explorer without Addon’s & ActiveX control:
This method will surely speed up Internet Explorer, as no addon’s or ActiveX content is loaded. (Remember: This will speed up IE but the sites may not load properly.)
How to run Internet Explorer without addon’s & ActiveX control:
a) Right Click anywhere on Desktop.
b) Point over “New” & select “Shortcut”
c) In the field, copy the below line exactly (with inverted commas):

“C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” -extoff

d) Then give that shortcut any name you want like “Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)”
e) Click on “Finish” button.
f) Run the newly created shortcut

Now the Internet Explorer will run without addon’s & ActiveX control.

2. Regularly update your windows: (Recommended for Vista Users)
This method is most effective for vista users. If the problem is not caused by add-on’s, this is only method you should opt for. As vista users are most suffering through this problem, updating will help them a lot.

The problem should be solved by the above methods. If vista users still face some problems try my previous post “Run programs smoothly in Windows Vista”.

After installing the Firefox, some people like to stream internet music from music sharing sites such as 4shared.com. Unfortunately, Firefox plugin do not install while clicking on “Install Missing Plugin” rather if you click on manual install you are directed to a media player download page. You won’t believe due to these little problems many people ignore Firefox. If Firefox improves these small problems, Firefox can gather some more crowd.

After hearing this problem from tons of Firefox users, Microsoft launched up a plugin for Firefox. This lets you stream music file from internet or from pages where media files are embedded.

There are many alternatives available in the market for this problem but why consider other when Microsoft has revealed the original one. The plugin is an executable (exe) file and can easily downloaded on any computer.

However Internet Explorer have a greater experience than Firefox. I’ve made a detailed study of both the browser & here are the results:

1. Add-On Support
Both browsers have a support for add-on, however it is easy to manage add-ons in Firefox. Also the Firefox add-ons are easy to build than Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer has many of the add-ons built-in, but in Firefox you have to install each add-on separately.

2. Theme Support
Firefox support themes whereas Internet Explorer does not support themes. There are many themes available for Firefox for free.

3. Security
Here Internet Explorer wins for security because of ActiveX Control.

4. Stability

Internet Explorer is more stable than Firefox. I’ve seen Firefox crashing many times in many computers. It crashes mainly because if we shutdown the computer without closing Firefox properly. Also after this when windows scans the computer after improper shutdown many times it display errors with Firefox files.

5. Ease Of Use
Firefox has a much easy interface than Internet Explorer. Theme support also makes Firefox much easier.

6. Bookmarks Or Favorites
Firefox bookmarks are easier to organize than favorites of Internet Explorer. Also Firefox lets you backup your bookmarks, which Internet Explorer don’t allow.

7. Password Manager
Firefox again takes the lead here. Firefox has inbuilt password manager whereas Internet Explorer don’t have. Also Firefox lets you create a master password to manage your all passwords for websites.

8. Page View
Firefox engine gives a good output than Internet Explorer. Firefox engine understands more formats than Internet Explorer. Both the browser support fullscreen mode. Internet Explorer comes with a built in showcase, however showcase add-on can be installed in Firefox.

Recommended:
For Home Use – Firefox
Due to ease of use, theme support, easy to manage add-on’s,etc.

For Office Use – Internet Explorer
Due to Security, Stability,etc.

Final Result:

Firefox Wins Over Internet Explorer.

Note:
The above comparisons were made on the basis of following versions:
1. Internet Explorer – 7
2. Firefox – 2
