Here is the 11 step process with an image flowchart that will easily let you change your name in Gmail/Gtalk. (Click on the image at right to enlarge it.)

1. Sign in to you Google Account.
2. Go to “My Account” Page.
3. Click on Edit Link.
4. Enter your First name & last name here.
5. Click on “Save”.
6. Now open Gmail.
7. Click on settings.
8. Then go to the accounts tab.
9. Click on edit info.
10. Now you can either select the name you just changed in the above step or you can type a new name you want to use for Gmail/Gtalk.
11. Click on “Save”.

That’s it. Your (new) name will appear in Gtalk & will also be attached when you will compose an email.

NOTE: You cannot have different names in gtalk and gmail through a same account.

The browser war has been growing very rapidly in this past month. Opera’s 9.5 has been really tough for Mozilla’s Firefox 3. Though many users installed Firefox 3 but they are also happy with the new Opera 9.5. If you work on many systems in your college, school or work then you must be using different computers daily. Having a portable browser in your pen drive can lower the risk of security breaches caused by using different browser at different systems.

The normal version found at their respective sites cannot be installed on your pen drives. However some third parties have released a portable version of these browsers which can be installed on a USB pen-drive.

The plan will allow unlimited calls to land-line phones in 34 countries for $9.95 per month, said Don Albert, vice president and general manager for Skype North America.

But today when I checked the price of the Unlimited World plan on Skype’s site, the rates were different there. I saw banner that was showing a price tag of $12.95 per month for Unlimited World plan. Even few hours ago lifehacker also wrote an article with $9.95 as price.

The Unlimited Country plan banner showed a total of $5.95 per month per country. This $3 difference is still a mystery that – Has the rate been increased in just one day? or Skype has different rates for different locations?.

The skype-to-skype calls remains free as always.

This feature comes inbuilt in Firefox but has not gained popularity yet. Many people still don’t know about this and that is why we have written this post. Additionally starting the YDT podcast today as promised by us a month back, there is a video below do check it out.

We don’t have exact dates when Google will be doing that. But the development of offline blogger has been started & here is its proof:

Moreover, we heard a rumor Microsoft is also developing a competitor for Google Gears. If this happens we will see a complete change in Internet World. Not only web application but basic sites & blogs will also get an offline touch. Thus you can call this combination as Offline Internet!

But if many platforms are built, again there will be a problem. Imagine you will have to install a product from Google for Google products & another for yahoo & another for adobe & this continues till new companies are born. Thus we hope that all the companies should stick on one platform only creating a simpler offline applications world.

WordPress recently started support for tag which Windows Live Write adopted very quickly.

So all you have to do is to just update your copy of WordPress to the latest version. Here ia the complete way of making your Windows Live Writer support tag for your WordPress.

1. Download & update your WordPress to the latest version available. (Must be 2.3.1 or higher)
2. After your WordPress is updated, open windows live writer. Go to your weblog settings & update your template style.
3. Now you will see a field name as “Keywords” in the more section.
4. Enter your tags there (separate multiple tags with commas: cats, pet food, dogs).

The most convenient way of blogging offline comes from Microsoft. A free tool with an WYSIWYG editor, spell checker, etc. It supports almost all popular blogging platforms & comes with a bunch of settings pre-installed. It supports video embedding, HTML, picture resizing, paste special, etc.

It not only supports drafts but also saves draft to the weblog. Overall product to blow off the offline blogging limits.

2. Zoho Writer – Link
Zoho Writer is not just another blogging tool but it is just a web application not a software. It is powered by Google Gears to make it available for offline use. The major plus(+) point of it is its simple & eye-catching interface.

It is not made for writing & publishing post but its mainly a Word Processor. However it can be used for publishing posts also.

3. Microsoft Word – Link
Well I hope almost all the persons reading this article knows about the software I’m talking about. Yes, its the MS Word only which can also be used to publish posts also. So you can use all the features of MS Word to write a post. But still it is not recommended to blog with MS Word because it causes problems while exporting HTML. This may lead to improper designing of your post on weblog or in feed readers.

4. blog.gears – Link
Just another writer which uses Google Gears to go offline. It has no WYSIWYG editor, nor any additional features also it only supports blogger. You need to grant access to blog gears from Google accounts to to let it access your current posts or publish new posts. Currently its just a plain offline post writer however its still in beta so it may become one of the popular tool for blogger in future.
